2019 12 09 - BWS Headmaster's Update

18 Dec 2019
School News
Sixth Form recruitment update – so far we have 80 applications, the vast majority of which are from outside BWS; just under half of the applications are from girls. Most of the visits to other schools are completed, though there will be a few Careers Fairs in January and our last Open Session will be on 21 January.

Whole School Assembly – was delivered by EdUKAid, a charity based in Downton; the Charity works in Tanzania, and has had many BWS links over the years (especially Clive Barnett, ex-Head and Tim Dench BWS alumnus). We will be collecting for them up to the end of term.

Other events – the Christmas Concert at St Martin’s last Thursday was a wonderful evening event, marking as always the start to the festive season.

Sport – Saturday was the last block fixture of the Rugby season against Kingswood, over 200 boys out representing the school. Note also that the U16 Rugby team beat Canford to become County Champions, and the senior boys are through to the national semi-final of the NatWest Vase Competition. Finally the Inter Boys XC Team finished 12th nationally in their competition.
