Bishop's wouldn't be Bishop's without the encouragement, commitment and generosity of parents, staff, alumni and the wider community.
A tradition of benefaction and inclusivity has supported Bishop Wordsworth Grammar School since 1890, each generation benefitting from the generosity of those who have gone before. Our mission is to ensure that Bishop's offers the best educational experience we possibly can, whilst making it as widely accessible as possible, and we can only achieve this with your financial support.
We’ve introduced the Above and Beyond Campaign to bridge the gap between where basic Government funding ends and the Bishop Wordsworth’s experience begins. Donations help fund the co-curricular and enrichment “extras” that support the outstanding teaching and learning we offer every child at our school. We ask a monthly or one-off gift to our Above and Beyond Campaign which will have a direct and meaningful impact for our Students and our School.
Find a way to support the school that suits you, from specific projects and bursaries to remembering Bishop Wordsworth's in your Will with a legacy gift. However you choose to support, you will be helping transform the lives of Bishop's pupils now, and in the future.
Our major fundraising projects for this year are Pitch In and Fine Tuning. The Pitch In campaign is raising funds for a new sports Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) and cricket facilities, we are also Fine Tuning the music department by raising funds for an exciting music technology suite, instruments and a recording studio.

The Above and Beyond campaign aims to bridge the gap between where Government funding ends and the Bishop Wordsworth’s experience begins. The vital additional income that regular giving generates ensures that the education we provide surpasses the basic level of educational provision provided by government. Together we can continue to provide an exciting, enriched educational experience for all pupils. We hope that all families can spare an amount each month, whether it is £15, £30 or £100, your regular contribution, added to others, will make a significant difference to your child and our school.
Why support us?
A regular donation to our Above and Beyond campaign guarantees that the education we offer goes beyond the basic level provided by the government. By working together, we can maintain an exciting, enriched educational experience for all pupils. Whether it's £10 or £100 a month, we encourage all families to contribute regularly. Your donation, combined with others, will have a meaningful impact on your child and our school.
A regular donation to our Above and Beyond campaign helps fund the day to day co-curricular and enrichment “extras” that are vital in supporting the already outstanding teaching and learning we offer every child at our school. These include extras for Pastoral care, Sport and Adventure, Clubs and Societies, Careers, Art, Music, and STEM.
Our PITCH IN campaign has been launched to raise funds to build a fully enclosed, multi-use games area (MUGA) at the Britford Lane sports ground, which will offer a significant increase in facilities provision. The MUGA will include 5 retractable cricket lanes, a netball court, a tennis court, a 5-a-side football pitch, and space for team sports skills training.
The Bishop Wordsworth's PITCH IN Campaign Donor Board recognises the generous donors who have pitched in and supported our campaign.
