A tradition of benefaction and inclusivity has supported Bishop Wordsworth Grammar School since 1890, each generation benefitting from the generosity of those who have gone before. Our mission is to ensure that Bishop's offers the best educational experience we possibly can, whilst making it as widely accessible as possible.
Find a way to support the school that suits you, from a one-off or monthly gift, offering support for specific campaigns and bursaries, to remembering us in your Will with a legacy gift. Our major fundraising campaigns for this year are PITCH IN, FINE TUNING and ABOVE AND BEYOND. The PITCH IN campaign is raising funds for a new sports Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) and cricket nets, we are also FINE TUNING the music department by raising funds for an exciting music technology suite, instruments and a recording studio. We also welcome donations towards the ABOVE AND BEYOND campaign which creates crucial annual revenue, enabling us to enhance the school's educational provision and extracurricular activities that are not possible from the school’s current income.

The Above and Beyond campaign aims to bridge the gap between where Government funding ends and the Bishop Wordsworth’s experience begins. The vital additional income that regular giving generates ensures that the education we provide surpasses the basic level of educational provision provided by government. Together we can continue to provide an exciting, enriched educational experience for all pupils. We hope that all families can spare an amount each month, whether it is £10 or £100, your regular contribution, added to others, will make a significant difference to your child and our school.

A regular donation to our Above and Beyond campaign helps fund the day to day co-curricular and enrichment “extras” that are vital in supporting the already outstanding teaching and learning we offer every child at our school such as Pastoral care, Sports and Music assistants, extracurricular music opportunities, Sports and Adventure equipment, Clubs and Societies, Careers Support, Art and STEM lab technicians.
Donate towards the Bishop Wordsworth's Trust which creates crucial annual revenue, enabling us to enhance the school's educational provision and extracurricular activities that are not possible from the school's current income.
Our PITCH IN campaign has been launched to raise funds to build a fully enclosed, multi-use games area (MUGA) at the Britford Lane sports ground, which will offer a significant increase in facilities provision. The MUGA will include 5 retractable cricket lanes, a netball court, a tennis court, a 5-a-side football pitch, and space for team sports skills training.
