2019 09 01 - BWS Headmaster's Update

18 Dec 2019
School News
Exams – I was pleased with the grade profiles at both levels, though there remains work to do.  At A level the launch of the Psychology Department at BWS  will hopefully make a significant difference, but of course the results from our own provision will not kick in until August 2021.

Admissions – we should be full at 160 for Year 7, and Year 12 now looks like 126, meaning that our number on roll should be just short of 1,000 this September.

Staffing – as far as I know there are no hitches with regard to all of the new teaching appointments (I never take this for granted!).  There is also one vacancy for a Pastoral Support Officer at present; interviews are scheduled for 30 August and the field is promising.

Summer work on site – preparation for the new Head of Art (who will be focusing more on Graphics than in the past) has been completed, with the installation of benching, wiring and new PCs in one of the art rooms as well as the purchase of an A3 printer. External decoration of Chapel Block and No11 (rear) will have been completed;  the two oldest buildings on site are looking much better for the makeover. The Sixth Form Common Room has been re-decorated. Lastly, the bus has been sold and will be removed, allegedly during next week!
