2020 02 03 BWS News Round-up

School day from September 2020
We are changing to a 50 period, one week timetable from September 2020. The new structure should give us the increased flexibility that we need with the likely growth in the size of Year 12.

Year 12 applications
The deadline date was Friday; 307 applications received(last year we had just 180). We will be working on the data early in the coming week to ascertain (a) the balance between subjects and number of teaching groups and (b) the applicants’ schools of origin. Planning of staffing should swiftly follow, as without the complication of collaboration we can move faster.

Staffing
We have made an internal appointment to Head of Chemistry – Dr Colette Maunder will replace Emma Baker from 20 April 2020.

Sport
Lots of excellent performances and success last week in Badminton, Squash, Table Tennis and the first Rugby 7’s tournament at Seaford College. See twitter @BWordsworth’s for further details. The PGS 7’s tournament is on Sunday 2 Feb.

Public Speaking
Both the BWS Intermediate and Senior Teams won their sections of the Rotary Competition and progress to the next round later this term
