Open-Air Theatre at Bishop Wordsworth's School: 26th June 2021
BWS is getting back to old ways at last with its annual, bring-a-picnic, al fresco theatre production on the HM's Lawn at No.11.
Organised as usual by the BWS Parents' Association, this year's play is "She stoops to conquer".
This Restoration Comedy by Oliver Goldsmith is for all the family - variously described as one of our greatest farces; a generous-hearted play; exploring difference in manners between town and country.
Two men, Charles Marlow and George Hastings, are bound for Liberty Hall, where the Hardcastles live. Their daughter, Kate, is being pressured into marriage. Her brother Tony, meets Marlow and Hastings on route and decides he will play a joke on them.
Added to this, a small fortune is destined to be inherited by ... someone.
